I work with clients 1-on-1 to help them with their individual questions and concerns. Everyone starts a course with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and it’s very easy to become overwhelmed if you have questions no one has ever asked before. Typically, I will update my courses to cover common questions and feedback, but many times, the questions I see are not common.

Rather than spending weeks or months searching for answers yourself, I will answer all your questions in rapid-fire succession, save you tons of time in the process, and show you where you had gaps in your knowledge so you know what to do to catch up.

I started tutoring in 10th grade (a very long time ago!), and I’ve taught people of all ages and backgrounds since then. I teach technical subjects that typically involve math, science, or programming at the graduate and undergraduate level.

At this stage, I work as a mix of consultant and freelancer. So, my advice is often applied in a business context, and we work on how to find an optimal solution for your company or team given the specific constraints that may arise via your shareholders, current state of your software platform, and how users interact with your application.

Of course, if you want a more traditional 1-on-1 “teaching” session, I can do that as well.

Here are a list of subjects I cover or have covered in the past:

- Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning / Data Science
- Calculus 1, 2, 3 & Differential Equations
- Probability, Stochastic Processes, & Statistics
- Programming and Computer Science
- Algorithms and Data Structures
- Physics (Kinematics, Dynamics, Mechanics in 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D)
- Physics (Electromagnetism, Maxwell’s Equations)
- Introductory Quantum Mechanics
- Signal Processing
- Control Systems and Control Theory
- PHP
- Python
- Ruby on Rails
- Databases (SQL, MongoDB)
- MATLAB

I mostly do Skype/Zoom sessions (I can draw on my screen, which you will be able to view). I can help you code directly on your screen using Teamviewer. My rate is $250/h (USD) if you are a consulting client or you need help with something not covered in my courses.

If you are a student in my courses and you just need help with something in a course, or you want to modify the code in some way (e.g. apply walk-forward validation to a different dataset in my time series course), then my rate for this is $150/h. Application to new datasets and application of new (but similar) algorithms not covered in a course is considered regular consulting and does not apply here. If it’s a simple dataset (like MNIST) then it may be considered “course applicable”. This will be judged on a case-by-case basis so just contact me if you want to discuss.

Consulting (not course-applicable) work involves tasks like:

- Providing guidance on your own dataset (not a dataset from the course)
- Providing guidance on your personal, work, or business project
- Helping you modify an algorithm for different scenarios or datasets not covered in the course

**NOTE: Currently, I am only taking on students who want course-specific help. Any math prerequisite for data science / machine learning is also covered (calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics).**

## The #1 Benefit of 1-on-1 Coaching

One of the most controversial aspects of my courses is that because they are high-level machine learning and data science courses, typically teaching subjects taught in upper year undergrad or graduate school, there are many **prerequisites** for these courses, mostly covering the first couple years of undergrad, but some beyond that.

The #1 benefit of 1-on-1 coaching is that **you don’t need to meet any prerequisites. **Personalized coaching sessions are for YOU and you only. So we will go over all of your personal pain points.

In my courses, students often make requests such as:

- Can you make this course more suitable for laymen / beginners?
- Can you cover how to compute derivatives / review linear algebra / whatever else I forgot?

The mistake students make in these situations is that they believe my courses should be customized to *their *background, whether that is actually appropriate for the topic at hand or not.

As an extreme example, suppose you’re in a course about the expectation-maximization algorithm. Is this the time for you to learn about how probability works? Of course not! That makes no sense. That’s like trying to take a course on Shakespeare and asking the instructor to teach you proper grammar and spelling.

But with 1-on-1 coaching you don’t need to worry about prerequisites at all. I will teach you everything you need to know.

Since courses must be scalable, this is something I don’t have the bandwidth for in a course setting. I can’t sit there with you and figure out your personal pain points. I can see that for a lot of students, this is what they are asking for and this is what they need. Thus, 1-on-1 coaching is ideal for your situation.

## Testimonials

This is a testimonial from one of my very first students whom I taught over 15 years ago:

You helped me with grade. 12 math tutoring back in 2005. The difficulties I had in math were a little bit of everything from algebraic equations, problem solving questions. I have tried several tutors and did not have any success and still did not understand the material that I had to know. The way the other tutors taught me wasn’t making much sense so therefore I moved on and decided to contact you for help. After a few hours of your tutoring session you had a different way of explaining the math problems and finally made it clear for me to understand what i needed to know. I found your tutoring gave me confidence and i was finally understanding math and your patience and support really helped. At that time I was borderline failing my class and your tutoring helped me achieve the marks i needed to pass my tests and even my teacher seen an improvement and was happy to see that. The tutoring helped me reach my goals by helping me graduate high school and gave me the opportunity to continue into my further studies and now am planning to apply for the police force in the near future. I do really appreciate all your help and it finally made me realize that everyone has there own pace and way of learning and not to give up because with enough hard work and the proper help and guidance from people who know what they are doing you will go a long way.

Thank you.
